The Danish government only buys energy efficient equipment

Government institutions have taken the lead and may now only purchase energy efficient electrical equipment.

Equipment must either comply with the Trust’s purchasing requirements or has to be covered by other recommended lists and schemes referred to by the Trust on its Danish website at www.goenergi.dk and the English language version at www.savingtrust.dk.

In future, these websites will be the main gateway to energy efficient purchasing as set out in the Danish government’s 2005 ‘Circular on improving energy efficiency in government institutions’.

Institutions must also officially report and publicise their energy usage, and consumption over 100,000 kWh per year must be registered on the Trust’s www.goenergi.dk/se-elforbrug (View electricity consumption) website.

Government institutions must also implement financially viable energy saving projects that can pay for themselves within five years.
