Start saving with good lighting

It is simple, safe and cheap to have better lighting and lower electricity consumption with help from the Trust. Find out how this can be achieved.

Poor lighting is a problem affecting many schools, day care institutions and offices. There is often insufficient light and what light there is may dazzle. It might also flicker, flash or make a noise, and electricity consumption may be too high.

The Trust can help you to start to improve your lighting.

Suppliers of lighting systems must provide a drawing showing where the light fittings will be placed. They must also provide a calculation which documents and ensures good lighting and legal compliance. Suppliers must also produce a drawing that shows you where to locate the daylight and movement sensors in each room; this will ensure that the lighting control works as it should.

3: Choose an installer
Choose your preferred contractor to install the system. If you need to put the project out to tender then please do make use of our standard text template.

4: Installing the system
Now it is the contractor’s turn! The company will install the light fittings and lighting control system based on the supplier’s plans and instructions. Finally, the installer will adjust the system, and the rooms are ready to use.
