Check your server room

The Trust’s ‘SelvTjek Serverrum’ tool can be used by anyone wishing to save electricity in the server room.

The Trust has developed an Internet based self-check tool (in Danish) which you can use to check the electricity consumption in your server room.

The tool is based on evidence collected from different pilot projects carried out by the Trust and the Danish Technological Institute.

Features of ‘SelvTjek Serverrum’
Users of the Danish system can get an estimate of the energy consumption used by their server room and relevant advice on savings. Registered users can save the answers and good advice received, and can also communicate with other users. They can also read about actual server rooms including information about equipment, layout, challenges and opportunities.

Good advice to get started

  • Buy energy efficient servers. Group the servers together (server consolidation).
  • Move equipment which does not need to be cooled out of the server room.
  • Use external cold air for cooling.
  • Duct the warm air away before it mixes with any cold air.
