Purchasing guidelines for audio systems and separates
Increasingly, most new traditional style audio systems and separates have low standby consumption. But some new types of systems have high consumption in both the on and standby modes, so it can pay to choose an energy efficient model.
Purchasing requirements for audio systems and separates
Specifications established by the Trust based on GEEA 2007 specifications
| Equipment type | Standby watt | Minutes before standby |
| Integrated audio systems | 1 | - |
| Audio separates | 1 (1) | 30 (2) |
The requirements apply to audio systems and separates connected to mains electricity. The power consumption and time limits are the maximum permitted for energy efficient equipment. See notes and additional definitions below.
Good advice on purchasing and operating equipment
- Products with external power supplies should comply with the requirements for power supplies (Danish only).
- As far as possible, choose models which default to standby after a period of inactivity.
Notes and additional definitions
‘Product Sheet, GEEA Criteria 2007 – Audio Equipment’ describes full scope and definitions.
