To all staff responsible for energy in government institutions (EP)

All government institutions must have an energy responsible person (an EP). An EP must cooperate with the ministerial sector’s energy coordinator, with a view to implementing the requirements laid down in the Circular on improving energy efficiency in Danish government institutions.

All government institutions must have an energy responsible person (EP)
An EP must cooperate with the ministerial sector’s energy coordinator, with a view to implementing the requirements laid down in the Circular on improving energy efficiency in Danish government institutions.

As an EP your tasks include ensuring that:

  • You monitor the heating, electricity and water trends in your institution and report the consumption for each building to the Danish state’s property information system.
  • The institution publicises its electricity consumption by registering with ’Se Elforbrug’ (View Electricity Consumption) – subject to the institution having an electricity consumption in excess of 100,000 kWh per year.
  • An institution implements commercially viable energy savings projects recommended as a result of the energy labelling of buildings, which have a repayment term of up to 5 years; always allowing for the fact that less favourable conditions may prevent the successful implementation of the project.
  • Operation, maintenance and renovation take place in an energy efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Your institution and staff demonstrate energy efficient behaviour.
