To ministry energy coordinators (MEKs)
The Customer Service Centre provides advice and guidance to help energy coordinators fulfil their responsibilities.
As a ministerial energy coordinator (known as an MEK) you are responsible for ensuring that your ministerial area meets the requirements in the Circular on improving energy efficiency in Danish government institutions.
As a MEK your tasks include ensuring that
- An overall target is drawn up to combat the growth in energy consumption in the ministerial area.
- The purchase of energy efficient products takes place in a coordinated manner. By energy efficient products, we mean products which: a) fulfil the requirements in the Trust’s purchasing guidelines; b) are energy labelled A (A+ or A++ for fridges and freezers); c) are featured on the Trust’s product lists.
- The coordinated purchasing of energy efficient products is incorporated into the general purchasing policy, which forms part of the strategy for improved energy efficiency in the ministerial area.
- Knowledge about energy efficient behaviour is disseminated throughout the ministerial area.
Each Ministry’s website should feature the name of the energy coordinator.
