‘1 ton less’ campaign
The Danish Ministry of the Environment and the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy* launched a national campaign in March 2007 under the headline ‘1 ton less’.
The campaign aims to make Danes aware that our daily behaviour has an impact on global warming, and that we can all play a part in reducing our carbon footprint, thereby limiting the damage. We can achieve this, for example, by driving our cars less, returning cans and bottles for recycling and by saving power.
There is a considerable synergy between the Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s climate campaign and the Trust’s activities. Therefore it’s obvious that the Trust should be involved in the campaign.
The Trust is continually working to reduce electricity consumption via campaign activities targeted at private consumers and the public sector. Electricity consumption accounts for a considerable proportion of Denmark’s CO2 emissions, and a reduction in this consumption therefore makes a significant contribution to the goals of the climate campaign.
* As of November 2007, the Ministry of Transport and Energy was reorganised into two separate ministries: the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Climate and Energy.
