Professional fridges and freezers
The Trust, together with the trade associations for commercial catering equipment and some of the largest producers and suppliers of professional fridges and freezers, has introduced product overviews of professional fridges and freezers, with the emphasis on energy efficiency. Inclusion on the overviews is free of charge.
Producers or importers wishing to be included on the overviews must apply to the Trust and must supply a test report with documentation showing that the Trust’s requirements have been fulfilled.
The test reports must confirm that the tests have been carried out in accordance with the relevant criteria and standards. Initially, the test reports produced by the producers themselves can be used.
The overviews only feature energy efficient appliances that conform to the Trust’s requirements for energy efficiency.
The Trust carries out random checks of appliances to ensure that they fulfil the requirements. Appliances are removed from overviews if they fail to conform to the requirements.
Tool to help purchasers
Overviews provide buyers of professional fridges and freezers with tools that help them to focus on power consumption, thus making it easier to choose the most energy efficient appliances.
Previously, it was difficult for buyers to make an energy efficient choice because there was no equivalent overview of energy efficient appliances.
Tests carried out in large commercial kitchens show that there is a considerable difference in power consumption between conventional appliances and modern, energy efficient equivalents. Consumption can often be reduced by more than 50%.
