Use equipment energy efficiently
Avoid using unnecessary power by switching off network equipment when you are offline. It can cost up to EUR 16 per year if you leave the equipment on all the time.
Good advice on energy efficient use
Switch off network equipment when you're not using it. Many people think that it takes a long time to connect to the Internet again, and that IT equipment will be damaged if it is switched on and off, but this is just a myth.
Around EUR 43 million can be saved in Denmark simply by disconnecting from the Internet when it's no longer in use. This is equivalent to 160 million kWh and 80,000 tons of CO2.
Switch off manually or do one of the following:
- Switch off the power at a remote controlled plug
If the wall socket is difficult to reach then you can use a remote controlled plug. - Use an AutoPowerOff plug bank
An AutoPowerOff plug bank ensures that your peripherals are switched off when you power down the computer. - Use an all-in-1 box
Save energy by combining several functions in one box. Find an all-in-1 box with a router, print router and wireless base station.
