Lifetime costs – what are they?
When you buy a computer, the cost of running it is reflected in your electricity bill over the period in which you own and run the computer. We call this the computer’s lifetime costs, i.e. the total cost of using it over the computer’s life, which we have set at 5 years.
If you add both the purchase price and lifetime costs together, you can find out what the product really costs. See the lifetime costs displayed in the list of recommended computers.
Lifetime costs depend on:
- On, sleep and standby. The time the computer spends in each of these different modes.
- Lifetime. How many years you expect to have the computer.
- Electricity price. The Trust bases its calculations on a standard price, but you can also input your own figures.
