Avoid using climatization or air-conditioning systems to cool a building
Climatization and air-conditioning systems use large amounts of power, so you should consider other methods, wherever possible, to cool your house in the most environmentally friendly way.
The energy efficient way to a cool home
- Choose your temperature
Start by deciding the temperature that suits you. Then set the thermostatic valves to the required temperature. This prevents the radiators from heating up the room unnecessarily. - Shield from the sun
Draw the curtains and lower the blinds if you want to prevent your house from becoming unnecessarily warm on sunny days. - Switch off electrical appliances
Electrical appliances such as TVs, computers and printers produce a considerable amount of heat when they are switched on. This is why they should be switched off when not in use. - Use a ceiling fan
A ceiling fan is one way of making a room feel cooler. However, you should restrict its use as much as possible because a fan still uses quite a lot of power.
