What is an A-rated pump?
A-rated circulator pumps are pumps that use less than a quarter of the power used by the market’s next-best pumps.
Energy efficient alternative
An A-rated pump is an energy efficient circulator pump that only uses a sixth of the power guzzled by an older pump. An A-rated pump costs around EUR 13 per year to run, compared with an older generation pump that can cost as much as EUR 120 per year.
Uses only 5 watts of power
When buying a new circulator pump, it’s important to make sure that it’s A-rated, because this type uses as little as 5 watts of power. By comparison, a B-rated pump (the next best type) never uses less than 22 watts.
A circulator pump eats up 10% of your electricity.
The annual electricity consumption of older pumps, and those which are not A-rated, is between 175 and 500 kWh per year. On average this accounts for just under 10% of the total electricity consumed by a typical family.
