How to connect your AutoPowerOff plug bank
It’s easy to connect an AutoPowerOff plug bank, and it will start working for you immediately.
AutoPowerOff with USB cable for computers
- Plug your computer peripherals into the AutoPowerOff sockets in the same way as you would use an extension plug bank.
- Connect the USB cable attached to the AutoPowerOff into one of your computer’s USB ports.
- Plug the AutoPowerOff into a 230 volt mains socket.
- Plug your computer’s 230-volt power cable into a separate mains socket. Some AutoPowerOff plug banks have a dedicated computer socket which is always ‘live’. Remember, if you have a desktop computer you should never connect it to one of the sockets that are switched off automatically because you will not be able to switch on your computer.
When you turn off your computer, the USB port is closed down. This sends a signal to the AutoPowerOff plug bank to power down the other sockets. If you have an inkjet printer connected, please remember to switch it off using the on/off button before you switch off your computer. This prevents damage to the printhead.
AutoPowerOff without USB cable for TVs and computers
- Plug your computer peripherals and any devices attached to your TV into the AutoPowerOff sockets in the same way as you would use an extension plug bank.
- Plug the AutoPowerOff into a 230 volt mains socket.
- Plug your computer or TV 230-volt power cable into the dedicated, permanently live, master socket on the AutoPowerOff plug bank.
When you turn off your computer or TV, less electrical current is drawn through the master socket. This sends a signal to the AutoPowerOff plug bank to switch off the other sockets. This type of AutoPowerOff plug bank can be used for both computers and TVs.
