The Energy Saving Label defines requirements for energy efficiency

Requirements for washing machines
In order to qualify for the Energy Saving Label a washing machine should be AAA (wash, spin, energy class) per the EU’s mandatory energy labelling scheme. In addition, the producer must vouch that the product conforms to the wash, spin and energy class stated and that all stores may use the Energy Saving Label on the washing machine.
Ongoing quality control
The Trust carries out random tests to check that recommended washing machines comply with the requirements. Washing machines are tested by the Danish Technological Institute. If the results show that a washing machine does not fulfil the requirements it is removed from the list and the test results publicised.
