Computers and flat screen monitors
- Save around EUR 80 per year by replacing 1 desktop computer and one conventional CRT monitor with an energy efficient notebook computer.
- Choose notebook computers and flat screens – they typically use half as much power.
- Look for the Energy Saving Label when you buy a computer.

Lighting
- 13% of your energy consumption goes on lighting. Save EUR 75 per year by replacing 7 tungsten filament bulbs with A-rated energy saving bulbs.
- Switch to A-rated bulbs with the Energy Saving Label.
- Only use halogen bulbs for spot lighting, and remember to switch off the transformer at the mains.
- Use daylight and motion sensors – these automatically adjust the light as required.

Fridges and freezers
- 18% of your energy consumption goes on fridges and freezers.
- Save EUR 54 per year by replacing 1 fridge and 1 (at least 5-year-old) freezer with A-rated models.
- Buy A+ and A++ rated fridges and freezers and look for the Energy Saving Label.

AutoPowerOff plug banks
- An AutoPowerOff plug bank automatically switches off connected equipment the moment you turn off the TV or computer.
- An AutoPowerOff which switches off connected equipment when you turn off your TV can save you EUR 20 per year; a similar plug bank on your computer can save an additional EUR 27. AuotoPowerOff plug banks cost between EUR 5 and EUR 27.
- Buy AutoPowerOff plug banks for your TV and computer. AutoPowerOff plug banks automatically switch off connected equipment (monitor, printer, DVD, etc.) when they are not in use.

Circulator pumps
- Save EUR 81 per year by replacing your old circulator pump with a new A-rated one.
- Choose an A-rated circulator pump for your central heating system – look for the Energy Saving Label.
Washing machines and tumble dryers
- 18% of your energy consumption goes on your washing machine and tumble dryer.
- You can save EUR 17 per year by using the washing machine 4 times a week at 30 °C instead of 40 °C. And if you stop using the tumble dryer for half the number of times you wash, and use the drying line instead you can save an additional EUR 80. If your washing machine can wash at 20, °C then you can save even more by using cold water washing powder.
- Fill the washing machine up.
- Wash clothes at 30 °C instead of 40 °C.
- Hang clothes out to dry instead of using the tumble dryer every time.

Dishwashers

- Fill the dishwasher up completely before you run it.
