Secondary meters measure electricity used by individual appliances
Secondary meters are available for measuring the consumption of appliances. The meters come with an ordinary plug and can show consumption on a display or via a PC. Meter accuracy is important if you also want to meter standby consumption.
These types of meters can be purchased for a few hundred Danish kroner or loaned from the local supply company. Most 7th grade studies in Danish schools feature meters as teaching aids. You can also borrow or purchase a SparOmeter which can meter the power used by appliance when on or in standby mode.
