Save 134 Euros per person per year
1,000 kWh per person per year is a level of energy consumption that anybody can reach.
We can reduce consumption to 1,000 kWh without any pain at all
At present, Danes use an average 1,400 kWh per person per year. But you can cut down your consumption to 1,000 kWh per person without sacrificing comfort.
You simply need to be aware of your energy consumption, switch off lamps and appliances when they are not in use. Choosing energy efficient alternatives when buying new equipment can save you up to 134 Euros per year.
When you live alone, the target is 1,500kWh
If you live on your own, 1,500 kWh per person per year is a more realistic target because electricity consumed by a fridge and TV, for example, is the same irrespective of the number of residents.
Electric heating not included
If you have electric heating, you cannot count on achieving the target of 1,000 kWh per person per year. The type and shape of your house determines how much you can save. Therefore, if you want to make comparisons based on the 1,000 kWh target, you will need to discount your electric heating from the equation.
Electric heating is undoubtedly one of the biggest power guzzlers on your electricity bill – so it could pay to consider alternative solutions.
