Independent authority under the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy
The Danish Energy Saving Trust is an independent authority under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy. Originally established in 1997 as the Danish Electricity Saving Trust, the Trust is supervised by a Board and structures its activities by making the greatest possible use of the resources at its disposal in order to maximise environmental benefits.

The Trust's finances
The Trust is financed by a special energy savings charge of DKK 0.006/kWh payable by households and the public sector. Total annual proceeds amount to approximately DKK 90 million. For homes without electric heating this is equivalent to an annual payment of around DKK 20.
