About the Danish Energy Saving Trust
On 1 March 2010 the Danish Electricity Saving Trust became the Danish Energy Saving Trust. The scope of the organisation's work has been expanded from electricity savings to cover savings for all forms of energy in all sectors, other than transport.
Savings covering all forms of energy
Following a decision by the Danish parliament, the Danish Electricity Saving Trust has been transformed to the Danish Energy Saving Trust. This means that the organisation's work has been expanded from electricity savings to cover savings for all forms of energy in all sectors, other than transport.
For consumers, the public sector and business
The new Energy Saving Trust will focus on the savings potential for consumers, the public sector, and the commercial and industrial sectors. The latter have been included as a target group in connection with the change from the former Danish Electricity Saving Trust to the new Danish Energy Saving Trust.
Efforts and initiatives will focus specifically on individual target groups in order to achieve maximum impact and results.
The Trust's mission is to ensure viable and effective energy savings based on campaigns, and by influencing the market to introduce new energy efficient products and services.
Independent Chairman and Board
The Danish Energy Saving Trust is financed by a special energy savings charge of DKK 0.006/kWh payable by households and the public sector. Total annual proceeds amount to approximately DKK 90 million.
The Danish Energy Saving Trust, just like the Electricity SavingTrust before it, is an independent, public authority with its own Board appointed by the Minister for Climate and Energy. The Board will appoint a director of the Trust.
The Trust has its own secretariat linked to the Danish Energy Agency in organisational terms.
