Go' Energi – promoting energy efficiency in Denmark
The Danish Energy Saving Trust (Go' Energi) is expanding the activities of the former Danish Electricity Saving Trust with the remit to promote energy efficiency in households, the public sector, and the commercial and industrial sectors for all forms of energy use, other than transport.
Go' Energi is an impartial, public sector organisation with its own Board.
Go' Energi, which was established on 1 March 2010, is consolidating and expanding the work and initiatives of the former Danish Electricity Saving Trust.
The organisation's activities cover energy used in all sectors, other than transport (i.e. in housholds, the public sector, and the commercial and industrial sectors).
Financing
Go' Energi is financed by a special energy savings charge of DKK 0.006/kWh payable by households and the public sector. Total annual proceeds amount to approximately DKK 90 million.
The charge equates to around DKK 24 per year for households without electric heating.
Board of Directors
Go' Energi has its own Board appointed by the Minister of Climate and Energy. The Trust prioritises its activities to achieve the most energy savings from the resources at its disposal. The Head of Secretariat is appointed by, and reports to, the Board.
