The Danish Energy Saving Trust promotes energy savings in Denmark

About us

The Danish Energy Saving Trust will develop and expand the previous activities and initiatives undertaken by the Danish Electricity Saving Trust with the purpose of promoting energy savings in households, the public sector, and the commercial and industrial sectors for all forms of energy, other than transport.

The Centre is an independent, public sector authority with its own Board under the auspices of the Ministry of Climate and Energy. The Board will appoint a director of the Centre, which has its own secretariat linked to the Danish Energy Agency in organisational terms.

The Centre was established on 1 March 2010 by the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy and will expand the previous activities, initiatives and tool developed by the Danish Electricity Saving Trust.

The Centre covers all forms of energy in all sectors, other than transport (i.e. the household and public sectors, and the commercial and industrial sectors). The Centre is financed by a special energy savings charge of DKK 0.006/kWh payable by households and the public sector. Total annual proceeds amount to approximately DKK 90 million.

Financing
The energy savings charge equates to around DKK 24 per year for households without electric heating.

Board of Directors
The Centre has its own Board and organises its activities in order to achieve the best possible energy savings in terms of the resources available.

Evaluation
External evaluations will be carried out on an ongoing basis. This will ensure an unbiased assessment of the activities.
